En route to Florence we stopped at Pisa to see the Square of Miracles which includes the Pisa Cathedral, the Pisa Baptistry, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, and the Camposanto Monumentale. The entire square is an UNESCO World Heritage Site and was a must see for me. I have always seen pictures of the Leaning Tower and wanted to take a picture bracing it.
The Leaning Tower of Pisa is a well-known because of its tilt. The tower began to tilt during construction because the foundation was not strong enough. Overtime, the foundation was improved to withstand the weight of the building but preserve its tilt.
Of course I had to take a dramatic picture that gives the illusion that I was bracing the tower. No photoshop :)!
Moreover, Pisa itself was very quiet but busy with tourists and vendors. There were plenty of street vendors, and souvenir shops. Just like in Venice we were bombarded with with men selling “authentic” designer bags and sunglasses at discount prices lol :). It is a must visit if traveling from Rome to Florence or vice versa since it is on the way.
