Desert Safari, Dubai

Since Dubai itself is a desert I could not have visited without going on a desert safari and riding a camel.

The safari was a short drive from downtown Dubai and is a very popular attraction. Unfortunately, I was drained from the heat and sand so opt not to go sand duning but nonetheless it was well worth it.

The experience was great and definitely one of my travel highlights. The camel was pleasant and seemed to take people pretty well.

Looking forward to doing an Arabian night safari on my next trip.

Burj Khalifa

The Burj Khalifa has been the world’s tallest building since 2010. It is a residential building located in Downtown Dubai and holds numerous height records. IMG_0065_2

The building is so tall that it is very difficult to get pictures of it in its entirety. Even though I tried to take as many pictures as possible I was trying to observe and really soak in the moment.

The fountain and marina surrounding the building are absolutely gorgeous and picturesque. It is really impressive that most of these features are artificial and man-made.

The building can be seen from nearly all parts of the city.

I regret not being able to the observation deck to enjoy being in the world’s tallest building and enjoy the views but next time I guess.

The Dubai Marina

The Dubai Marina is a man-made canal city along the shores of the Persian Gulf. In order to build the marina, water from the Persian Gulf was brought to create a waterfront. The project, much like all the other development projects in Dubai, is still under construction. Upon completion it is set to be filled with villas and residential buildings that would be able to accommodate 120,000 people. Once completed it will be the largest man-made marina in the world.

The first phase of Dubai Marina project includes 6 apartment buildings which are called the Dubai Marina Towers. The towers are named after precious stones, Al Mass, Fairooz, and Murjan, and  after Arabic scents, Mesk, Anbar, and Al Yass.

The Dubai Marina Walk which was also in phase 1 of the project stretches the length of the marina and is lined with restaurants, cafes and boats.

Phase 2 of the project is  “the tallest block in the world” with mega skyscrapers.

The Dubai Marina is breathtaking especially considering it is man-made. The canal is very clean and the water looks beautiful. The buildings and water front are brilliantly engineered. On my next trip my goal is to visit the Marina at night to see how illuminated it becomes.

Atlantis, The Palm, Dubai

As part of my touch and go experience in Dubai I was able to make visit the Palm Jumeirah Island and make a brief photo stop in front of the Atlantis Resort. The resort is one of the most famous and opulent resorts in the world.

Situated on the man-made island, the resort is gorgeous and provides very beautiful views. On my next trip I would love to do an aerial view of the island including the resort. Even stay at the resort for a day or so if possible.

Plans for the construction of another Atlantis in Dubai which would be the world’s largest Atlantis resort is currently underway.

The Dubai Mall

The Dubai Mall is the world’s largest mall in terms of total size. The size of the Mall is equivalent to more than 50 football fields.

The Mall contains a luxury hotel, an Aquarium, Discovery Centre, ice rink and Sega Republic along with 22 cinema screens and 150 restaurants and cafe.

It was only able to do a quick walk through of the mall and did not really get to check out or buy anything (I doubt that I would have been able to afford anything).

Jumeirah Beach Front, Dubai

The Jumeirah area in Dubai is a common residential area for expatriates. It is also popular among tourist. I personally was fascinated by the beachfront area. The water was beautiful and the beach surroundings were very clean and pristine.IMG_9987_2

The beach is unlike any other with the backdrop of a very thriving metropolis and structures such as the Jumeirah Beach Hotel.

On my next trip to Dubai I would love to spend more time at the beachfront area and observe the beautiful backdrop.
